It has to be said that 2011 has been a fantastic year for TeamScorpio.net. Along the yellow brick road, we have managed to restructure our team in-house, met and made some great new friends, while producing unique and individual concepts within the car show world for the general public to enjoy.
Firstly, congratulations to Simon Walker who has been promoted from Rep to Head of Wales Division and Matt Sheppard whose position was also elevated from Promoter to Web Master/Deputy Head of England Division. Both have proved themselves consistently over the past few years so promotion to the respected positions was only inevitable. Congrats again guys, we hope you both flourish in your new roles.
TeamScorpio’s 2011 season opener ‘Fast 5′ was held at London Lee Valley Leisure Complex in April to commemorate the release of Fast and Furious 5. Working with the likes of Maxolen, Smoked Out TV and CrewsVS to name a few, we were able to create yet another outstanding vibe on the day with over eight hundred attendees. A massive thank you is in place to Smoked-out TV who created an amazing video viral of this event.
For the re-launch of the TeamScorpio.net website in August, WolfMods kindly allowed us to make use of their premises for a photo shoot for our brand new clothing line. To celebrate the re-launch, our deputy head Matt Sheppard (Silva-D) with the help of Cass, orchestrated ‘One More Time’ in Peterborough. Special thanks to WolfMods, Maxolen, Loki Powers and ACCLR8 for their attendance and support. This night had all the components for a truly memorable night, including drifting, burn-outs and prizes – one of which included an overhauling of a chosen car; this was given to Nathan Houghton and his 1999 Renault Clio. The number of people who attended was truly phenomenal; walk through traffic alone was easily over two thousand. Peterborough was left astonished as we finished off early hours into the morning.
The TeamScorpio rollercoaster ride stopped off in Broxbourne for Torque in September where eight designated car owners, who all had a wealth of experience in the automotive sector were handpicked to represent the modified car world in a mini show catering for the youth between the ages of nine and seventeen. They were shown the ins and outs of the automotive trade from becoming a model and photography, modification and body work to car audio sound engineering. We thank the great ambassadors of the night which included Wolf and Dwayne from Wolf Mods, Dizzy from Relentless Racing, AJ from Crews Vs, Chris from Maxolen, Charly Luck, Loki Powers and Simon Walker for his epic drive from Cardiff to distribute CD giveaways. The Council was truly overwhelmed by the response.
With the TeamScorpio Storm in full motion we took sail to Wales for undoubtedly our biggest show yet, the ‘End of Season Showdown ‘ at Audio Concepts, Cardiff. This event was supported by a host of household names in the UK Car/Entertainment Scene including, Maxolen, Audioconcepts, WolfMods, Crews Vs, Modelling Network, Smoked Out TV, Fast Car Magazine, Time & Sound, SFS Hosing, Loki Powers, Sa-Real, Voltz, Silverline, Valleys Cruise and the list goes on. This event was nothing short of exquisite with over two thousand people walk through traffic including ninety minute mayhem with the police and a two mile tail back – makings I would say of a true road block event. Entertainment on the night was absolutely exceptional, this included gaming tournaments, models, the ultimate show and shine competition and Miss TeamScorpio competition with PA system in place through Waz from Audio Concepts. Klash Gabrial and DJ Moses Midas were also able to shoot their latest music video on stage while Triple Threat was able to grace the public outside the stage with their music video shoot. Not to mention a stunning performance by Beatbox Major and DJ Dessa. This was all happening while Nathan Houghton’s Clio was being overhauled live on display for everyone to enjoy. The most heart warming part of the evening was having Darren ‘Dizzy’ Cotgreave proposing to his now fiancée Jeanette Lawford live on stage, the newly engaged couple were absolutely thrilled. Overall vibe of this event had the TS magic written all over it and the unity of people was amazing to watch. All in all, a perfect ending to a truly memorable year.
So what are the plans for 2012 I hear you asking? Well we will be looking to hold two events next year with a music video thrown in to boot. Locations still are confirmed and we will be are planning to hold these events in London, Cardiff, Peterborough and Buxton. That is all that can be really said for now until further developments are confirmed. Also our website should be fully functional with improved features by the 1st of January 2012.
Thank you to everyone who has followed and supported us throughout this amazing year. The momentum which has been generated by this support will only allow us to better ourselves for the future. So be prepared for 2012 guys and girls with TeamScorpio.net, as it will be the biggest year yet in ‘Putting the Sting Back into Driving’!
